A person who spiked sweets with sedative and provided them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys both nine and 10.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight children and an older person became sick at the facility in July.
The 76-year-old, from that region, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
The accused was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the defendant had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated the man had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained items including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were located, and his stepson notified the police about his concerns.
She explained the defendant continued to play the "candy game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"The police had not arrived by that stage," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining the police response of the incident.
Mrs Prior explained the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member called the law enforcement again.
She explained the man then played the "sweet game" in a space of five children.
